Women of SAM: Cortney hazen, Director of Outreach and Development

From the desk of Cortney Hazen, SAM National Director of Outreach and Development

When I was a senior in college I went to Washington, D.C. as a young intern. I fell in love with policy, politics, and the excitement of being a part of something bigger than myself. I worked in and around politics for almost 15 years. As I watched Congress and the two major parties get more divisive and do less, my frustration and anger grew. I walked away from my career and all I built because I could not be a part of the problem anymore.

I have always known there was a glaring need for a third party but I let myself be convinced it couldn’t happen. I never thought I would work in politics again until I found SAM and now I finally feel I really belong. I am proud to be a part of this movement. SAM is about people over politics.
