The SAM Party of Texas has endorsed Kodi Sawin, an independent candidate for Texas House District 19, encompassing western Travis, Burnet, Blanco, Gillespie, and Kendall counties.
The SAM Party’s State Executive Committee was impressed with Kodi’s intent to focus on local issues important to her Hill Country district: water quantity and quality, land use, and other meaningful day-to-day issues – not divisive partisan talking points. As Principal for the Sawin Group, which specializes in public and government affairs in water/wastewater, land use, and rural economics, Kodi’s professional background is well suited to addressing the local every-day concerns of HD 19. Says Kodi,
“A Hill Country stream knows no political party nor a hilltop an ideological position. I look on my race as an opportunity to discuss what connects us rather than what divides us—so that we can work together to bring red and blue Texas back together under one bright shining Lone Star!”
The SAM Party’s State Executive Committee voted unanimously to endorse Ms. Sawin. Bill King, SAM
Texas’s State Chair noted,
“Kodi is precisely the type of candidate our party is pledged to promote and support. She promises to be an independent-minded public servant who rejects rigid policy positions in favor common-sense pragmatic solutions that benefit all her constituents. We look forward to supporting her campaign.”
Running as an independent, Ms. Sawin will be required to gather at least 500 signatures from registered voters who did not participate in primary elections. Voters wishing to sign Kodi’s ballot-access petition or otherwise support her campaign can contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org
The SAM Party of Texas is a diverse coalition of voters dedicated to electing candidates to solve problems facing Texans, believing that a large and vibrant state such as ours requires independent-minded public servants, not politicians. The SAM Party welcomes those who are committed to governance based on civil discourse, transparency, accountability, honest fact-finding, and fair, competitive elections.
